The Miracle of Green Tea

Claimed to have been used for at least 4,000 years now as an alternative for medicine in China, there seems to be no other food or drink has as much benefits in terms of health as green tea. Since the ancient times, the Chinese have been benefiting from the medicinal benefits of this miraculous drink that range from treating simple headaches to a more complicated condition such as depression. In our world today, many scientific studies from across continents have already provided sufficient pieces of evidence on the seemingly endless health benefits of green tea. Following are just a few of the illnesses which green tea is claimed to help cure: cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, high cholesterol levels, cardiovascular impairments, infections, and impaired immune infection.

You may be wondering what is in this drink that makes it very special? Well, the answer is because green tea is rich in EGCG or epigallocatechin gallate. This is one anti-oxidant that is known to be powerful as it not only inhibits spread and growth of cancer cells but it actually kills these fatal cells without touching and harming the healthy tissue.  Aside from that, EGCG was also proven to be effective in bringing down LDL cholesterol levels, and thwarting any formation of blood clots which is not normal and usually leads to stroke and heart attack.

You may also wonder what sets green tea apart from all other Chinese teas, and what are its advantages? The answer is in how green tea is processed. Unlike black and oolong tea leaves that are fermented, green tea leaves are steamed. Steaming stops the EGCG compound from oxidation whereas fermentation leads to EGCG being converted to different compounds which are less effective in prevention and fighting against the various diseases like those mentioned earlier.

Apart from its medicinal help, it was discovered that green tea is also effective in weight control. A study done in November 1999 found out that the participants who was given both caffeine and green tea was able to burn more calories versus those that were given only caffeine. Another use of green tea which was later on discovered was its help in the prevention of tooth decay. It was found out that apart from it being able to destroy bacteria to avoid cases of food poisoning, it also has the capacity to destroy those bacteria which leads to dental plaque. Currently, several more studies are being done on the other possible benefits of green tea.

After hearing about all the positive things about the drink, I’m pretty sure you are interested to know whether it has negative side effects to those who take it in. As of this writing, no other negative side effects were recorded apart from possibility of acquiring insomnia because of its caffeine ingredient. But the good news is, green tea still contains less caffeine than coffee.

So how much do you need to consume, to feel its benefits? It actually depends. A good 5 cups would be ideal. To learn more about green tea and its health benefits, visit http://meditate.com.au

Is There Such Thing as Green Tea Overdose?

In all corners of the world, the problem of weight loss is a universal concern. Millions of people are suffering from obesity and are having a hard time losing those unhealthy fats. Many research and studies yielded more than a variety of products and ways to address this problem—supplements, vitamins, exercises, and green tea.

Green tea has become immensely popular for its medical and health benefits especially in the weight loss department. And with its popularity comes another concern, instinctively, those who are dying to get slim and lose those fats and finally get that body they have been dreaming of for several years now, will think that the more they drink green tea in a day, the faster they will get slimmer, thus, over dosage.

Fortunately, studies have proven that the benefits a person gets from drinking the tea is not affected by the amount he takes in. Records show no significant side effects if a person drinks green tea heavily. For the record, it is absolutely safe to drink green tea. Many even drink up to 20 cups in just one day. Green tea also has a decaffeinated version, which also provides same benefits the original does. The effect actually is determined by how one prepares the drink. The size of the green tea leaves matters. The smaller and the looser, the better, as that allows quick infusion. Teabags are actually more common to dieters. To maximize the benefits of your drink, dunk the teabag on a continuous manner to extract more polyphenols—this contains antioxidants and other health benefits. Do not leave the teabag floating and always use boiling water when preparing your drink as it increases the polyphenols as well. The amount of time the teabag steeped matter as well, should be high to extract higher content of polyphenols.

Caution though for first timers, during the first few times of consumption, one may experience insomnia or restlessness. The good news is, the body just needs to adjust, and once it has already adjusted, all things will be back to normal. And you will finally get that body!

my sis has & she passed the first time! Thank goodness. But her friend took it twice & failed even tho shes been workin at many hospitals. So i guess u must be prepared. You already done most of the preparing by taking all the requirements, now u must study some more & relax. Don’t plan other things (like gettin married) around the time of the test bc that’s too much stress. Focus on studyin & forget about everything else until u pass. Some ppl are good at their jobs but just bad at test takin. Good luck!

Women and Green Tea

The miraculous product named green tea is a by product of a plant named Camellia sinensis, like all other types of tea, But what sets it apart from all tea, black tea in particular, is the way it is processed. Black tea undergoes fermentation whereas green tea does not. This creates the huge difference as fermentation has an effect on the tea’s antioxidants. The less fermented the tea is, the more natural the antioxidants, which the tea contains, remain. Ergo, the healthier and the more protective the product becomes.

These antioxidants, as we all know very well, are vital in working against free radical in the human body. These free radicals are produced when our body converts the food we take in into energy. These could potentially have a harmful effect in our cells and DNA. And this could only mean, these free radicals would make our bodies weaker and more prone to several diseases such as cancer, heart diseases and even stroke.

An enormous amount of research studies have connected green tea with different types of cancer, which includes the nightmare of many women—cancer of the ovaries. This type of cancer is said to be the eighth most common in women, and the fifth in terms of mortality rate involving cancer. UK Tea Council reported a study, which was conducted for 15 years and involves 60,000 Swedish women, aged 40 to 76. The researchers examined the dietary habits of these women and it included the amount of green tea they consume. Some of the major and relevant findings of the said study state that the regular drinkers of green tea were much less prone to getting the cancer. It also added that amount of tea consumed also influence the risk. Naturally, the higher the consumption, the lower the risk of getting the cancer.

On a lighter note, the American Cancer Society reported that statistics are improving—incidence of women getting the cancer already went down starting 1985. And not surprisingly, incidence is more common in Caucasians than Asians, who are known to be heavy consumers of green tea.
