The purpose of a study guide is for YOU to do the research — thus learning the material! If we do it, it doesn’t HELP you! (Besides, asking us to do all this work is an abuse of this site!)

Now, I’m SURE your textbook has all this information at your finger tips. Some of it you should just plain KNOW!

However, should you have difficulties, this website will help you:

    a) The Puritans came from England. They were religious bigots. They left England because under the law, they were unable to oppress people in England with a theocracy in the way they wished to. In America they hoped to be free to misbehave as they wished.

    b) Roanoke Island, in 1587. It was intended to be permanent, as the settlers took their wives and children with them.
