Green tea is a type of tea that originated from China. Recently, it has gained popularity in the western and European countries because of its many health benefits. This tea is basically made using the leaves of Camellia sinensis. The ones used for making green tea are those that have undergone minimal oxidation processing.
These days, there are many types of green teas that have been created in various countries which Camellia sinensis can grow. Because of processing, harvesting time and growing conditions, these types of green teas can differ.
Green tea became popular not because they can grow in different continents, but because of the fact that it provides its drinkers with so many benefits. Due to the many claims about the health benefits of green tea, many studies have been conducted to prove these claims.
According to research, green tea has chemical compounds such as salubrious polyphenols. It is especially rich in epigallocatechin gallate, a type of catechin, which is able to regulate viral load that is essential for those people with human immunodeficiency virus or HIV. Although it is not proven to be a cure for HIV nor can it prevent the said virus, this chemical compound can help reduce plaques of AIDS-related dementia and block gp120.
