Health-care has become very cost efficient and well structured to meet their budgetary needs foremost. How will all of this impact the LPN?

There is still much demand for LPN positions, but the economy has greatly impacted every market area in society in regards to employment. You will probably find more and more people looking for employment than you have before the economic struggles. Many registered nurses looking for jobs have been settling for less pay than they would have. These registered nurses are also taking some of the LPN jobs that are available as well, which can in turn, hurt the LPN in some ways. A registered nurse has much more to offer in respect to education and experience. As an LPN graduates from school, it may seem that there are no new positions for LPN graduates.

As an LPN graduate, what do you do? Because jobs look mainly for LPN’s with experience, you are going to have to do some work. If you remain calm and start analyzing your options, you will find that there is much you can do to make yourself standout in today’s job market. Take a few classes and become a certified nursing assistance, which is great experience you can place on your resume. Try becoming an LPN traveling nurse. This will allow you the opportunity to go where employment is needed and many LPN’s are not willing to move from their current location. Just remember that a traveling position is only a temporary contracted position. You can spell out your terms in regards to how long you want your contract to be. This will also provide you with additional experience.

As a graduate, if you want to be marketable in today’s workforce, you may have to do a little more than the average to make yourself standout, but after a year goes by, landing the job you want shouldn’t even be an issue. Continue to get certified and specialize in different areas and continue your experience, all of this will surely payoff when looking for LPN positions in the future.
